On January 15 ACE (Alliance for Construction Excellence) sponsored a dinner meeting in Richmond, VA with members of the Commonwealth of Virginia Senate Finance and House Budget Committee Members. The Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Ray Davenport and Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax Topics of conversation included mechanic lien rights, prompt pay, worker misclassification (fraud), and apprenticeship training programs. ACE is supporting SB 1119, a bill introduced by Senator Chap Peterson who represents the 34th Senate District, to eliminate the practice of “right of offset” in subcontractors.
As of December 26, 2018, the Bill is awaiting a vote in the Courts of Justice Committee.
